PCI FAQs

Everything you need to know about this vital change.

First Qustion
  • What is PCI?
PCI (Payment Card Industry) is a more secure method of transferring encryption keys from the host processor to the ATM. The new standard is referred to as TR-31 (also known as "key blocks"). Failure to upgrade ATMs for this mandate will mean that after Jan 1, 2025 ATMs will not process transactions. Most Triton models will require a keypad & software update. All ATMs will require at least one software update. Please contact Bancard ATM (1-800-342-2731) to discuss your upgrade path.
  • Is PCI a mandatory federal compliance?
Yes, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (DDS) compliance is required of all entities that store, process, or transmit VISA cardholder data, including financial institutions, merchants and service providers.
